About Us
CHRIS BOYLES
During his time at Messiah College, Chris was an 8-time All-American and National Champion in both track & field (high jump, hurdles, decathlon) and soccer (goalkeeper). Chris graduated with a B.S. in Marketing in 2002 and then played a year of professional soccer as a goalkeeper with the A-League (now 2nd Division) Charlotte Eagles.
After only a year of soccer and with the persistence of his college track coach, Dale Fogelsanger, he returned to track and field. His time as a post-collegiate decathlete was spent training with Paul Terek at Cal Poly, San Luis Opispo (under Sheldon Blockburger and Harry Marra) and Michigan State University before spending the final 4 years in NC training under Scott Hall at Wake Forest University. Chris' specialty was the high jump, with a decathlon personal best of 2.18m (7' 1 3/4"). Chris has traveled all over the world competing and has represented the United States in competitions such as the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Chris resides in Newville, Pennsylvania with his wife, Krystal.
PAUL TEREK
Paul Terek is an accomplished decathlete who began his track career in high school as "just a pole vaulter", picking up the decathlon later on after starting college. While attending Michigan State University, he was a 6 time Big Ten Champion and 4-time All-American in both the Pole Vault and the Decathlon.
After graduating in 2002 and receiving his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Enginering, he began to focus on the decathlon. During his career, he has represented Team USA as a member of the '03, '05 and '07 World Championships Teams, as well as the 2004 Olympic Team amassing personal bests of 8312 in the decathlon and 5.70m in the pole vault.
Paul has become famous (or infamous) in Japan after his appearance and victory in Japan's Sasuke, Pro Sportsman No. 1. Since his victory, Terek has made numerous appearances on G4's Ninja Warrior in Japan and also been a guest judge on American Ninja Challenge. On his first Ninja Warrior appearance, Paul made it all the way to the third stage before failing on the Cliff Hanger (which requires traversal over a water pit with only small fingerholds to keep you from falling). In the fall of 2007, Terek failed on the Jumping Spider obstacle in the first stage. In early 2009, Paul returned again, but failed the first stage again, this time on an obstacle called the Slider Jump.
Paul resides in Grover Beach, California with his wife Shilo and their son Joseph.
As much enjoyment as we’ve had during our track & field experiences, one constant headache had always been figuring out how to get our poles to a competition. We’ve literally spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars dealing with this “nightmare” including a full bag of poles that were broken during shipment in 2006 with no compensation.
As we approached the later parts of our careers, we spent a lot of time deciding how to meet the need of alleviating this stress from athletes and coaches. In April of 2009 we started Fly-Away Pole Protection, to provide a fully-insured shipping service focusing specifically on pole vault poles (and javelins).
We look forward to meeting your shipping needs soon.
